TODAY YOU WILL FINISH THE STATIONS FROM LAST WEEK.

MAKE SURE TO TURN IN YOUR VOCABULARY TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM (EACH PERSON)

MAKE SURE YOU EACH TURN IN YOUR SUSPENSE SLIDE TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM, even THOUGH you ALL worked on the SAME slide.
STATION 1 

STUDY SYNC-Choose a BLAST to read and respond to. YOu may read "The Final Straw" or "Head to Head". Please check over your grammar and punctuation.  When you are done, you may complete the skill activity on Academic Vocabulary.

STATION 2

NO RED INK.  You should be finishing up mastery of capitalization and capitalization and formatting of titles.  You only need to take the GROWTH quizzes if you did not get 70% or above

"Three Skeleton Key" Vocabulary  Please go to GOOGLE classroom to access this document.  You may work with a partner to complete the assignment.  When done, TURN IN to Google Classroom.




STATION 4



Literary Element Poster for "Three Skeleton Key".  Hard copies of the directions are at your station. Go to Google Classroom to access your slide.  You may work with up to three other people.  You will need to SHARE the document with your group members. The OWNER of the document must turn it in to Google Classroom.

You will work with your partner to create a slide that teaches one of the literary elements. The two of you  will pick ONE element on the slideshow to create a slide for. 

 On your slide, you must have the following:

First and last names (small font)
Name of literary element or device (I already typed it, just don't erase it)
The definition of the term in words that a SEVENTH-GRADER can easily comprehend.
EXAMPLES of the device or literary element. Writing your own is BEST
Pictures to support or illustrate your term. Be creative. 
 Do NOT type on other people's slides!

Station #1Study Sync

I will teach you how to login and get you started with your first assignment.  Today we will do a blast and maybe a short assessment on connotation and denotation.

Station #2  No Red Ink



Continue working on what you need to.  If you didn't master capitalization or formatting and capitalization of titles, do some practice. When you are ready, you are welcome to take the Growth Assessment to see if you have achieved mastery yet. I have added a diagnostic test on Fanboys and using commas to join independent clauses. 


Station #3  Literary Elements

First, you will watch a video and answer the questions as you watch it in EDPUZZLE.  You will need earbuds (you can use your own).  GO to Google Classroom and Click on the link to the video.  You may need to signin with Google.  Click DONE in GC when you have finished watching the video and answering the questions. 


You will work with your group to create a slide that teaches one of the literary elements.You and ONE partner in your rotation, will pick ONE element on the slideshow to create a slide for. 

 On your slide, you must have the following:

MONDAY, ZERO PERIOD

Today will be a catch up day.  You can finish your essay and turn it in to Google Classroom.  I will show you how to use Grammarly to check your work.  It is so amazing.   You may finish up your Newsela article, annotations, and quiz.  You may work on your NoRedInk and discuss "Charles" and finish plot diagram.  
We will begin the day by playing a Quizizz about "Charles". It's a great opportunity to ask me questions!

MONDAY, PERIODS 2 and 4

Direct Writing Benchmark-You will read a short story and write an essay in class.  Don't worry This is not a test.  It is a benchmark to see where you are.  

Today will be a catch up day.  You can finish your essay and turn it in to Google Classroom.  I will show you how to use Grammarly. You may finish up your Newsela article, annotations, and quiz.  You may work on your NoRedInk.


It's a great opportunity to ask me questions!

Thursday, September 14th and Friday, September 15th



You all did so amazing last week with our stations.  Let's try it again!  Period 0 will work on stations both Thursday and Friday.  
 I will have you add some extensions to your Chromebook.  We will watch this video to show you how to add an extension.   

  Station 1-Work with me on your essays! We will be finishing them today!

Station 2-Plot Rap- Watch with headphones.  
Read short story "Charles" by Shirley Jackson.  You may read to yourself or out loud with a table mate or two..  You may go into the pod to read the story if you like.  
Review your notes from yesterday about plot.  Complete the Plot Diagram with one to three other people.  Put everyone's names on the paper.  THEN, if time, discuss these questions in groups of three or four.    Here are the questions. 

Station 3-Noredink  Finish up your work from last week. I have assigned practice for some of you that finished the diagnostic tests and scored below 75%. You may begin those practices. If you finish your diagnostics, you may pick a practice to work on until I am able to view your results from the tests. Sign in with Google.

Station 4-Newsela-SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE. Read the article in your binder. Complete the annotations and take the quiz.  :)

We will log in to Newsela and read an article that I assigned.  GO TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM!  Check your binder.  It is about a later start time saving billions.  When you finish you will take the quiz and complete the writing prompt.

Thursday, September 7th and Friday September 8th

Today we will be utilizing stations!  This will allow me to provide feedback to you regarding your writing!  

Zero period will do half of the stations today and half tomorrow.  Periods 2 and 4 should be able to complete them all.

We will begin with a mini-lesson on diction, connotation, and denotation.  Please take notes.


  • If you finish any station early, you may work on your interview essay.



Station 1-

Work on your Essay!  I will be assisting you and giving you feedback as you work. You will type this in a Google Doc that I provide in GOOGLE CLASSROOM.  Double-space. 


Station 2-You've Got Personality

Take out the four letters you wrote down yesterday from your personality test.  
Click here to read about your personality type. Make sure you CLICK on your actual personality type to get more information.     Jot down notes about what you agree or disagree with in your notebook.  Then you will fill out THIS form.  

On a note card, use colored markers to write down your first and last name on one side.  On the back, write down your four letters and the NAME of what you are. Make it colorful! Leave the note cards in a NEAT stack in the pink plastic mini-bin. Put markers away in boxes.

You will be asked to select some interests.  These interests will be included in your sentences, so it makes it a little more fun to do your grammar work!   You will sign up and complete the Diagnostic Tests on capitalization and punctuating titles.  If you finish early, you may go to the practices. 

Do not worry if you do horribly on these tests.  They are to determine what you need to practice (if anything) to master these skills.  Eventually, you will master them!

Station 4-Words Matter
Connotation and Denotation
First, you will divide into three or four groups to complete the activities. There will probably be two or three people in a group. NO groups larger than that please. 
You will find  folders on the table with envelopes inside the folder.  In each envelope is a paperclip with several words attached.  Sort them from weakest to strongest. Have someone take a picture of each envelope that you complete.  Post the group member's names AND your pictures to the appropriate Padlet for your class. Please put all words back in the right envelope. You will have to use your phone to post the pictures.
