Thursday, September 7th and Friday September 8th

Today we will be utilizing stations!  This will allow me to provide feedback to you regarding your writing!

Zero period will do half of the stations today and half tomorrow.  Periods 2 and 4 should be able to complete them all.

We will begin with a mini-lesson on diction, connotation, and denotation.  Please take notes.

  • If you finish any station early, you may work on your interview essay.

Station 1-

Work on your Essay!  I will be assisting you and giving you feedback as you work. You will type this in a Google Doc that I provide in GOOGLE CLASSROOM.  Double-space.

Station 2-You've Got Personality

Take out the four letters you wrote down yesterday from your personality test.
Click here to read about your personality type. Make sure you CLICK on your actual personality type to get more information.     Jot down notes about what you agree or disagree with in your notebook.  Then you will fill out THIS form.

On a note card, use colored markers to write down your first and last name on one side.  On the back, write down your four letters and the NAME of what you are. Make it colorful! Leave the note cards in a NEAT stack in the pink plastic mini-bin. Put markers away in boxes.

STATION 3-No Red Ink Please

Go to noredink.com
Click on the blue button in the upper-right hand corner that says SIGN UP
Click on "I AM A STUDENT"
Enter your CLASS CODE (See below)  It's easiest to copy and paste it
THEN, SIGN IN WITH GOOGLE. DO NOT CREATE A USER NAME OR PASSWORD!

Period 0 Join Code  lively bin 70

Period 2 Join Code equal card 34

Period 4 Join Code deep tiger 12

You will be asked to select some interests.  These interests will be included in your sentences, so it makes it a little more fun to do your grammar work!   You will sign up and complete the Diagnostic Tests on capitalization and punctuating titles.  If you finish early, you may go to the practices.

Do not worry if you do horribly on these tests.  They are to determine what you need to practice (if anything) to master these skills.  Eventually, you will master them!

Station 4-Words Matter
Connotation and Denotation
First, you will divide into three or four groups to complete the activities. There will probably be two or three people in a group. NO groups larger than that please.
You will find  folders on the table with envelopes inside the folder.  In each envelope is a paperclip with several words attached.  Sort them from weakest to strongest. Have someone take a picture of each envelope that you complete.  Post the group member's names AND your pictures to the appropriate Padlet for your class. Please put all words back in the right envelope. You will have to use your phone to post the pictures.
